Description
Materials that are flat and smooth can be easily held down with this Clamping Plate whereas materials too large or thin that can’t be held by a common machinist vise. With vacuum clamping materials they can be held flat and when machined properly materials will stay seated on top of the vacuum table. This type of vacuum holding also allows for the machining of many repeat parts at the same time with the use of a procedure called leaving a skin. This is when the machinist leaves a thin amount of material at the bottom of the item being machined between other parts. This acts a much larger area of material being held. In vacuum holding, the larger the material, the stronger the vacuum hold overall. Smaller parts may require that a small amount of material like a frame around the perimeter of the parts to prevent tear-out from the cutter.
